The Association „OPTIMUS VITA“ was created in Karlovac in early 2008, by a group of nature lovers and protectors, breeders - of the pure breeds of dogs connected by the love toward the flora and fauna, and especially toward the dogs, their breeding and training, friendship, experience exchange and mutual help and cooperation without snobbish, competitive and other ambitions.  

In a time of the disturbed natural balance, when a man loses his contact with the nature, we have found in our pets something that brings us close, and enables us to spend time together, to have fun, but also to provide professional help between our members.  

In our ranks there are all kinds of people, from the common dog admirers to the experienced dog experts, beeders, vets and dog show judges.

There are also foresters, fishers, farmers, mountaneers, mushroom experts, environmentalists…  

We climb the mountains of our country, visit the parks of nature, gather the mushrooms, ride in the canoes… simply put, we breathe fully.  

Almost all members have a pet, some of us even two or three, and we also have the breeders with the whole bunch of barkers.  This is not unusual, since the organized dog breeding exists in Karlovac since 1973, so we have experience with numerous dog shows, competitions of the working dogs, agilities, courses for the dog handlers and helpers, etc.  

To our members we offer the expert kennel and vet help, transport of the dogs, even to the distant places and foreign countries, dog pansions, individual dog trainings, group dog trainings, help in finding the buyers for the puppies, lower prices of the food and vet services, endless walks in the nature and parties until the dawn with the songs and laughter.  

We don't care whose dog is more beautiful, how does its ancestry look, to which party it belongs. There is no envy nor snobbism. We like all of them – big, small, fluffy and flat coated, champions or outsiders.  

When we met together, recognized each other and started to spend time together, I understood the value of the last sentence in a beautiful book of my colleague, respected dog show judge, great writer, journalist and zoologist Sandor Horvat, from whom I have gained my first knowledge about dog science.  He wrote:
